Corporate social responsibility
The incumbent government must play a strategic role in encouraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Pakistan. This can be done by creating an environment stable to investment, and by working with the corporate sector for the implementation of community development programs at the primary level.
The private sector, several public sector organizations had also given the significance to the CSR value and now contributing a lot for welfare of country and its people. Both local and international enterprises are paying great attentions on CSR in Pakistan and had developed their CSR departments for effectively implementation of CSR policy by providing shelters, medical aids, food and clothing to the uprooted and needy people.
It is not only the responsibility of the government alone but private sector should also come forward and play pivotal role in economic progress of the country. Pakistan is facing various problems including energy crises and law and order situation. No doubt the present government was working to overcome these problems. The corporate sector must play a due role to contribute lessening the suffering of people.
It is a high time that private companies should adopt CSR policy and start CSR activities.
Besides corporate sector, political parties and NGO’s of the country should also be held responsible regarding CSR which was a basic part for making improvements in the society.
Speaking from social and economic perspectives, Corporate Social Responsibility activities in Pakistan are pivotal to the turnaround that the country needs badly. The role of the corporate sector in alleviating the issues in Pakistan holds key importance. This is the prime reason why we have seen a recent surge in CSR activities in Pakistan.
